All ages are welcome to receive treatment for allergies or asthma. We accept patients ranging from newborns to the elderly. Our goal is to help you prevent symptoms, maintain normal activities, and avoid complications with your allergies or asthma. We take the time to listen, evaluate your needs and explain your situation to you. We’ll develop a personal treatment that is unique to you. Allergy tests are performed on the back for older children and adults, and on the back or forearm for infants and younger children. Your skin will be examined closely before testing. Next, we will put numbers on your skin to represent a variety of allergens. You will then get a small prick by each number to apply a small drop of each allergen on the outer surface of the skin. When you come in, we’ll discuss your allergy symptoms and decide if immunotherapy is good for you. By desensitizing your body to allergens, your allergy symptoms can be drastically reduced. Make sure you don't take antihistamines for 3 days prior to allergy testing to achieve accurate results. If this time frame is a problem, we can reschedule. After your testing is complete, you’ll meet with our physician to discuss the results. We typically will offer our recommendations for treatment during your first visit. On some occasions, all of your testing may not be completed during the initial visit. You may need additional lab work or radiological tests to better define your problem and help us direct treatment.
